She reiterated that this move, if actualized, will not only build public trust and confidence, it will enhance efficiency and transparency in justice delivery.
“You have our support,” said Justice Alhadi, encouraging the team to start their e-Justice needs assessment engagement with the Registrars and the Master and Registrar before finally meeting with the leadership of the Judiciary. Introducing the team from CAAIN, the Head of Delegation, Haroun Sheriff said it was an honor to engage the Judiciary on the Sierra Leone’s e-Justice transformation drive.
“The Judiciary plays a pivotal role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all,” he said, stating that, “as we are all aware, delays, administrative bottlenecks, and outdated processes often hinder the swift delivery of justice.”
According to him, the e-Justice initiative seeks to address these challenges by leveraging technology to streamline case management, improve coordination across institutions, and ensure timely legal proceedings.
Haroun Sheriff continues, this transformation “not merely about introducing new technology, it is about revolutionizing how justice is administered.”
He assured that it would provide tools to enhance legal research, manage case backlogs, digitize court records, and enable secure communication across justice sector institutions. The team is in the country for three months and expected to meet again with the Judiciary leadership before designing a user-friendly framework.
