SLBA President presenting an appreciation letter to the CJ
Judiciary of Sierra Leone Communications Unit, Law Courts Building in Freetown: The President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), Madam Eddinia Michaela Swallow Esq,
has today (Wednesday 2nd December) made her maiden visit to commend the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Babatunde Edwards on the massive reforms at the Judiciary.
“Let me on behalf of my learned colleagues thank you for the tremendous reforms in rebranding the Judiciary,” said SLBA President, adding that, “we would continue to support positive growth as well as the dispensation of justice.”
Whilst handing over her appreciation letter, the Bar Association President said they were impressed at the facelift given to the main Law Courts building to make the environment very decent and serene. She also called on the Hon. Chief Justice to provide another entrance for Solicitors’ Clerks to expedite their work amidst the new measures instituted to gain entrance to the Law Courts.
The Hon. Chief Justice welcomed and congratulated the Bar Association President and cross section of her executive members, noting that he is a patron of the Bar. He used the occasion to inform them that the new regulation was part of the reforms to have a new Judiciary that will be responsive to the needs of the citizenry to the country with respect to justice.
He highlighted that apart from the refurbishment of the main Law Courts building, he has brought a lot of institutional reforms as well as the enhancement of expeditious trials at all levels. According to him, he was appointed by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to deliver and nothing will deter him from doing so.
The Hon. Chief Justice took the SLBA newly elected executive on a conducted tour to assess the new development at the Judiciary.
