The High Court’s mandate is enshrined in Section 132 of the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone.

The High Court of Justice shall have jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters and such other original appellate and other jurisdiction as may be conferred upon it by this Constitution or any other law.

(2) The High Court of Justice shall have jurisdiction to determine any matter relating to industrial and labour disputes and administrative complaints.
