JUDCIAL WEEK: Justice Sheriff Imprisons 13, Acquitted 2 In Port Loko

The Port Loko District Resident High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff, has imprisoned 38-year-old James Mohamed Sesay and twelve (12) other convicted persons for various offences.

Accused James Mohamed Sesay of Kamabala Village in Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Port Loko Judicial District was brought before the Court for the offence of Murder contrary to Law.

Representing the accused, Defense Counsel from the Legal Aid Board, Mohamed Korie Esq. made an application for the said charge to be reduced to Manslaughter and the Application was granted by the Judge, after which, the charge was re-read and the accused took a guilty plea.

In his sentence, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff sentenced the convict, James Mohamed Sesay to twenty (20) years’ imprisonment.

Justice Sheriff also sentenced Fatmata Barybeh to life imprisonment for the offence of Murder contrary to law.

Meanwhile, Justice Sheriff convicted three (3) accused for Burglary and Larceny.

Two (2) for Conspiracy to commit a felony; two (2) for Store Breaking and Larceny; one (1) convicted of Robbery with Violence. One (1) convicted of Wounding with Intent; one (1) on Assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and one (1) sentenced to three (3) concurrent jail term for Larceny Cattle.

Justice Abdul Sheriff finally acquitted two (2) accused persons.

The cases were prosecuted by State Counsel Ibrahim Tholley.
