Main Law Courts Building, Freetown, 13th September, 2023: Supreme Court Judge, Honourable Justice Alusine Sesay, has discharged 22-year-old Student, Abdulai Kamara of a two count indictment of Conspiracy to commit House Breaking and Larceny and House Breaking and Larceny for Want of Prosecution.
Justice Sesay is one of the Supreme Court justices assigned by the Honourable Chief Justice to not only provide supervision but also handle cases during the JUDICIAL WEEK supported by the UNDP.
Abdulai Kamara was charged along with two others; Umarr Kamara and Alhaji Ali Kargbo.
Justice Sesay ordered a Bench Warrant against Alhaji Ali Kamara in respect of the allegations of Conspiracy to commit House Breaking and Larceny and House Breaking and Larceny.
All three accused persons were alleged to have not only conspired together with other persons unknown to commit House Breaking and Larceny, but also broke and entered into the dwelling house of one Ramandan Mubarak Bah on the 22nd day of February, 2022 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Country, with intent to steal, stole therein twelve Suits, one Rolex Wrist Watch, eight pair of Jeans and others items all valued Twenty Two Million Nine Hundred and Thirty Thousand Leones (Le 22,930,000).
Similarly, Hon. Justice Sesay discharged 37-year-old Security Guard, Abraham Mansaray and 26-year-old Student, Ishmeal Mansaray of a three count indictment, which includes Office Breaking and Larceny, and Receiving Stolen Goods.
Abraham Mansaray was alleged to have on the 6th and 9th of November, 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Country broke and entered the office of the Freetown Cheshire Homey – Dorothy Springer Trust, with intent to steal and stole therein electronics devices including Dell Laptop Computers valued over Thirty Million Leones (Le 30,000,000).
Ishmael was alleged to have on the 9th day of November, 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Country, received one Dell Laptop Computer valued Le 7,500,000 (Seven Million Five Hundred Leones) being property of the Freetown Cheshire Home – Dorothy Springer Trust knowing same to have been stolen.
The cases were part of the two-weeks nationwide Access to Justice Through Judicial, which commenced on the 28th of August 2023 and ended on 8th September 2023.
It is aimed at increasing access to justice and decongesting Correctional Centres across the country.
